Smell experiments

Smell for a particular person:
tea tree oil + frankincense: my dad
smells vaguely medicinal, like icy hot or bengay

Smell that evokes an emotion:
rosemary + sandalwood
makes me feel sad, smells like my grandmother's wooden rosary

Smell that reminds one of childhood:
benzoin + anise
black licorice and sugary candy, reminds me of candies kept in a covered saucer on the mantle

Smell that evokes a particular place:
patchouli + lavender
the natural food market Sevananda in Atlanta

Smell that makes you hungry:
imitation butter
which is funny as I hate butter

Smell that reminds that is unpleasant and tell us why or what associations it might have:
peppermint extract + ylang ylang
chemically, reminds me of artificial odors pumped into public bathrooms

Smell that could be associated with a religion or philosophy:
palmarosa + clove bud + spruce
reminds me of a musty old wooden church, sorta incense-y, too

Smell that personifies freshness:
Maybe lemon
but still a bit too chemically
couldn't really find one to match this

Create two more smells of your own design and describe:
grapefruit extract + lime
should be delicious but makes me sick to my stomach

ginger + roman chamomile
dirty dog smell
