Ladies and genetisists, your food is brought to you by the rampage of technology onward, people second, and all 'lesser' creatures last if not expendable. It's all connected and twisted together, from war to farming, nerve gas to insecticide - agent orange brings us Monsanto's infamous RoundUp, America's number 1 weed killer that is going to kill more than weeds baby. (The more they sprayed the more they had to spray.) DDT was once promoted as the hero of the decade in the quest to increase production, lower prices and offer greater availability. The Green Movement is the Systematic Agriculture of the past; the Green revolution is NOW the Gene Revolution.
Corn itself is now a pesticide, corn genes now RoundUp Ready. "Whoever controls the seeds controls the food." Monsanto sound familiar to you? Monsanto owns 11,000 patents on seeds; owning seeds simply because nobody owned them before, nobody ever thought to patent AND the government once upon a time (before Monsanto paid its way through legislature) forbade the patent of living organisms. Native indigenous peoples threatened right off their land, worldwide, by what is called the fumigation method - in order that large conglomerate corporations like Monsanto, and especially Monsanto, could move in and grow more corn. Seeds of tradition that were passed on through hundreds of generations disappearing to the Monsanto Godzilla.
Transgenic research now gives us the horrific reality: once these genetically altered seeds are released in the environment they cannot be controlled. They drift with the wind, by birds, strewn across the countryside by plane/truck/train, and the natural pollinations of our planet. Once pure fields of old fashion clean crops are now becoming polluted at the roadside or from how-ever-it-got-there - they are irreversible, they are lost to the uncontrollable transgenics. Don't laugh at the insanity but then Monsanto sues the farmers for growing their plant - the plants that the farmer had no idea was growing in their fields. If it's Monsanto's seed - it's Monsanto's plant/crop/money. You have to have their permission, or have paid for the seed and you have to use their pesticide.
And just so you know... in order to move genetic material from one cell to another they use bacteria and virus' with anti-virus markers (which destroy anti-bodies) - because naturally healthy cells have a predisposition to ward off gene invasion in order to preserve their own kind.
The choices of food you make at the market affect the future of food.
The Gene Machine - a biological divorce or a marriage of un-kind-ness?
P.S. Monsanto spent 6 billion dollars buying up all the little seed companies everywhere. A drop in the bucket.
