Or is it aromatic odors? I was mostly amazed at the growing max-out, having to leave the room to clear not only my smell senses but also my head that started to ache. With everyone mixing their concoctions of about 20 different little bottles of oils and herbal tinctures, the room became an invisible crowd of nose-attacks. Here were my mixes:
1. Anise + coconut + citronella + almond
2. eucalyptus + orange + almond + coconut
3. tea tree + rose + anise + lemon
4. coconut + almond + orange + eucalypsus
5. anise + almond + eucalyptus + lemon
6. rose + coconut + orange
The last one was actually very nice, I went around and let others partake, with comments that it was like the beach, or a resort, outside somewhere pleasant. I found myself trying to cut the air with what smelled sharpest to me, particularly the eucalyptus, lemon, citronella, and tea tree. The pungency cut to the back of my sinus, with thoughts of those salts to make somebody conscious after passing out.
The process of different smells getting on my finger tips was annoying after a while, it felt so out of control, too easy for cross contamination of oils. The alcohol based samples kept leaving the scene too quickly, disapating with a reckless abandon as the oils crept with saturation like some misbehaving property of taking command. It was weird to be smelling my fingers like that, like they had been in discreetly intimate bad places. My left hand smelled very different than my right hand, I preferred my left. I would close my eyes and smell my fingers trying to imagine what the combination of smells were, trying to name them got harder and harder.
Found myself attracted to the nutty flavors... smells have flavors? The citrus was able to cut the density of the nuts, tea tree and citronella became closer to lemon and orange in this respect. Tried to make a combo that would make my nose scream from the sharp cut, peppermint + eucalyptus + citronella + tea tree. It popped my eyes out. Over time the smells on my fingers changed, stronger residual scents of eucalyptus in the end.
